Opens on Sunday 1st March 2020, at 16.30 at VISIONI ALTRE gallery, Campo del Ghetto Novo 2918 VENEZIA, “Maridaje” with paintings of Andrea Zuppa, curated by Adolfina de Stefani with the collaboration of Guenda Mai – student of Economics and management of art and cultural activities at Ca’Foscari University in Venice.
“Maridaje” is a spanish word that is used to indicate the ideal combination between wine and food. Insiders often seek the right combinations playing on harmony and contrast of tastes. Who sits at the table has nothing to do but enjoy the choices propoused, they can be happy or annoyed by this. In analogy to the meaning of this word the serie MARIDAJE propoused by the artisti collects of artworks he has done between the years 2017 and 2019 in which the aim is the seek of the right harmony and/or contrast between the ingredients of a painting: colour, form and composition; deliberately subtracting the artwork from the most immediate meanings and choosing for this reason a purely informal and abstract language.
The artworks inspired the poet Francisco del Moral to compose some verses that underline another kind of maridaje: the one between subject and observer
You know that sometimes it’s hard to understand you. When you show yourself blue or yellowing your eyes suddently, you become that grey that silences or, despite the effort, you can’t green as much as i’d like, as much as the occasion deserves. Buti f I stay alert, it’s easy to see the harmony of every new nouance: colors interwine and understand each other in one lively spirit.

Andrea Zuppa
Born in 1973, he graduate in Architecture at the IUAV in Venice in the year 2001.
He has always been interested in drawing, graphics and in particular in watercolour and mixed media painting.
During his university studies he attends drawing and painting courses. In 2007 he met Yuliana Manoleva who introduced, him in her courses, to a new way of considering and using watercolour. He still continues his formation attending workshop in Italy and abroad.
He take part extemporaneous and groupal exhibition in particular way with the Galleria Città di Padova. He has edited the illustration and the cover graphics for various publications. His subjects range from figurative to abstract but with a continuos and constant research of a new expressiveness that characterizes him.

“Maridaje” è una parola della lingua spagnola che viene usata per indicare l’abbinamento ideale tra vino e pietanza. Spesso gli addetti ai lavori ricercano i giusti abbinamenti giocando sull’armonia o il contrasto del gusto. Chi si accomoda a tavola non deve altro che godere delle scelte proposte, ne può essere felice o infastidito. In analogia al significato di questo termine la serie MARIDAJE che l’artista propone raccoglie alcune opere che ha realizzato tra il 2017 e il 2019 dove l’obiettivo è la ricerca della giusta armonia e/o contrasto tra gli ingredienti di un dipinto: colore, forma e composizione; sottraendo volutamente l’opera ai significati più immediati, e scegliendo per questo un linguaggio puramente informale ed astratto.
Le opere hanno ispirato il poeta Francisco del Moral a comporre alcuni versi che sottolineano l’ulteriore maridaje: quello tra soggetto e osservatore.
Sai che a volte è difficile capirti. Quando ti mostri azzurro o ingiallisce il tuo sguardo all’improvviso, diventi di quel grigio che ammutisce o, malgrado lo sforzo, non riesci a rinverdire quanto vorrei, quanto meriterebbe l’occasione. Ma se rimango vigile, è semplice vedere l’armonia di ogni nuova arrivata sfumatura: si intrecciano i colori e si capiscono in un unico spirito vivace. Francisco del Moral Manzanares, 2019
Andrea Zuppa
Nato nel 1973, si laurea in Architettura allo IUAV VENEZIA nel 2001. Da sempre è interessato al disegno, alla grafica ed in particolare alla pittura ad acquerello e con tecniche miste.
Durante gli studi universitari frequenta corsi di dIsegno e pittura. Nel 2007 conosce Yuliana Manoleva che lo introduce nei suoi corsi ad un nuovo modo di considerare ed usare l’acquerello. Continua tutt’ora la sua formazione frequentando corsi workshop in Italia e all’estero.
Partecipa ad estemporanee e mostre collettive in particolare con la Galleria Città di Padova. Ha curato le illustrazioni e la grafica di copertina di varie pubblicazioni.
I suoi soggetti spaziano dal figurativo all’astratto ma con una continua e costante ricerca d i una nuova espressività che lo caratterizzi.
